How Crazy Am I ????

How crazy am I ?......I am tatting with sewing thread!!! A friend at my church asked me if I could knit her a lace edging for a shirt that she had sewn and wanted it out of the same thread that she had used to sew it with as it matches the material perfectly. I told her I didn't think I could knit it but, I was sure I could tat her up an edging. She wants it about an inch and a half wide and I am not sure how long I will have to do it but, she is tiny so, I don't think it will be much. She has no idea what tatting is and  I will be showing her what I have done tomorrow! I hope she will be pleased!
I made a mistake and thought I would end up having to cut it out however, I got the rings to open and was able to untat the three rings. whew!!! I did a lot of praying and used a magnifying glass so that I could see the knots. God is good!!!!

I also purchased this lovely book.
Thanks to frivole   and Fox I decided to go ahead and get this book. I love it! There are such lovely patterns in this book that I am not sure which one to do first!  I have no idea what the text says as it is in German, but, the patterns are all diagrammed so I am hoping I can do them. My son graduates from high school at the end of May and there is a pattern in this book that would go really well with the dress I am going to wear sooo...I hope I can get it done in time.

I mentioned in my last post that I was teaching a lady to tat. Gail is doing so good with her tatting that I am just amazed!! She came Wednesday with a whole pile of tatted butterflies and a motif . I am just so proud of her! She is so eager to learn and says she is tatting so much that her house work isn't getting done :) (doesn't sound familiar does it?) I am so happy to have another tatter close by to tat with.

Well that is all I have been up to with my tatting hope every one has a wonderful day! Have fun tatting ;)

Pipevine Swallowtail

It has been such a long time since I have done a new post! Time does fly....I am teaching a lady in my area to tat!!! Gail is doing such a great job and called yesterday just to let me know she got the flip!!! She is so excited about learning to tat. Did I mention she is 71 years young! She is a true pleasure to teach and it is so much  fun to have someone so excited about tatting :)
I have joined the Spring exchange on intatters and have finished the tatted piece that I will send to my exchange partner. This is my favorite pattern for a butterfly. It is the Pipevine Swallowtail pattern by Debbie Arnold.
As for the thread I used...The black is size 80 DMC and the lovely blue variegated.. Wellllll...I think this is yarnplayers Aqua Bay but, I am just not sure. It is HDT and I am almost certain that it is by yarnplayer however, to be fair it also could be from ladyshuttlemaker ! I love  these ladies threads and have purchased from both therefore, I am giving credit to both. (So sorry ladies but, I lost the tag to this one and just can not remember)

My "Fair" Necklace !!!!

One of my favorite actresses is Audrey Hepburn. "My Fair Lady" is one of my favorite movies that she was in so....I just had to use a play on words in the title of my post, since  this is a necklace I plan on entering in our local county fair. (yes I am thinking of summer already, must be this drab winter we are having...LOL)  I have been working on this necklace for the past few weeks and it is finally finished!!
Here is a close up view of the necklace.

On The Look Out For Dragons...

My DD found this dear little creature right after it hatched from its egg. Her little wings were still a bit damp so she was not able to fly away. Being that it is so snowy and cold outside, we decided to bring her into our home. It is a (not dangerous to humans) Poisonous Flying Minor Norwegian Dragon and since DD has grown quite found of her we have decided to keep her. Her name is Arsenic. (Snicky is her nickname) DD is hoping to find many more dragons and is now on the look out for them. You never can tell where they might show up!!!! Happy Tatting ;P
